The top colleges that pay you back

Posted on February 4th, 2016

We write a lot about evaluating the return on investment of a college when deciding where to attend.

With the price of college rising each year, it’s an extremely important factor to consider when choosing a college and spending thousands of dollars to attend.

To help you figure you the real value of college, The Princeton Review put together a list of the colleges that provide the best return on your investment.

Colleges with the best return on investment

The organization evaluated data from more than 650 U.S. colleges on their costs, financial aid, student debt, academics, graduation rates and graduates’ starting and mid-career salaries.

Based on this data, The Princeton Review created its 2016 list of the Top Colleges That Pay You Back. Check out the top 20 in their infographic below.

Topping the list of the top colleges that pay you back was not an Ivy League college, but rather the California Institute of Technology, a college that’s been lauded for its affordability and value.

Princeton University, The Cooper Union, Harvey Mudd College, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology rounded out the top 5 colleges that provided the best return on your investment.

College ROI can vary widely

While this data is useful for prospective college students and families when evaluating colleges, it’s important to remember that the return on investment of a college degree can vary widely depending on the student’s chosen major and other factors.

The rankings are based on the fact that a significant number of their students receive financial aid, making the college more affordable and leaving students with less debt.

If, however, a student has to take on significant debt to attend one of these colleges, and they enter a lower paying field, they may find that their return on investment is much lower.

To maximize the return on your college investment, it’s crucial to minimize college costs upfront and avoid taking on too much student debt.

We help prospective students and families find colleges that offer a great value at a low cost and make college more affordable. If you’d like to learn how we can help you, call us at 1-888-234-3907 or send us a message for a free consultation.
