We all know college tuition, room, and board at top universities is astronomically expensive. This video breaks down what the average cost of 4 years at a top school–$235,585.52–will buy you in the real world.
Turns out, this amount could buy you 1 Ferrari 458 Italia, 9 average U.S. weddings, 589 PlayStation 3s, or 65,205 gallons of gas.
When put in terms like these, these comparisons make the cost of college more real for students, putting the cost in terms of tangible items they may already own or aspire to purchase one day.
This video is not meant to dissuade students from going to college or advocating students to spend the money on cars and PS3s.
But this should make students think twice before spending (or taking out in loans) hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to a college when there are more affordable options available.
