Should you buy a private island or go to college?
What will $179,380 buy you?
Four years of tuition and mandatory fees at New York University, currently the most expensive college in the United States. But don’t expect free books, food, or housing–those are all extra (and not cheap in New York City).
Buzzfeed put together a list of 29 private islands that cost less than an NYU Degree. Some of them, such as Ilha Caetano in Brazil, even include a house!
For the same price, you could buy your own island and hire your own professors to teach you physics in paradise.

But in all seriousness, college is too expensive to be taken lightly. It’s extremely important to consider the return on investment of both your degree and your college before committing thousands of dollars to a school and taking out student loans.
And of course, at NYU and most colleges, not everyone pays full price, thanks to financial aid, grants, and scholarships. Some colleges have high sticker prices but offer a great bang for your buck.
