Newsweek’s 2011 Top 500 Public High Schools in America
Congratulations to the 5 New York State Public High Schools that ranked in the top 50 of Newsweek’s 2011 List of America’s top 500 public High Schools. Newsweek has been ranking the top public high schools for the past decade and this year revamped its selection methodology. To this end, each school’s score is comprised of six components: graduation rate (25%), college matriculation rate (25%), AP tests taken per graduate (25%), average SAT/ACT scores (10%), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10%), and AP courses offered (5%).
Newsweek’s recent announcement ranks City Honors School (Buffalo) 16th as the top NY high school on the list of America’s top 500 public high schools. Also, New Explorations into Science, Technology and Math (NYC) ranks 17th, Bronx High School of Science (Bronx) ranks 35th, Bronxville High School (Bronxville) ranks 38th, Jericho High School (Jericho) ranks 45th, Great Neck High School (Great Neck) ranks 49th and Rye High School (Rye) ranks 50th.
